Central Intake

The Central Intake Department is the primary point of access for individuals seeking services at North Central Mental Health Services. Our Assessment Specialists conduct comprehensive psychosocial evaluations, including assessments for mental health and substance use concerns, to determine the most appropriate path for care.

An array of mental health and recovery services focused on the needs of persons age 60 and over.

Nurse Outreach & Elder Focus Teams

These specialized teams provide tailored and targeted services:

Elder Focus supports individuals aged 60 and older with mental health needs.

Nurse Outreach serves individuals of all ages with co-occurring medical and mental health or substance use treatment and recovery conditions.

Services include:

  • Community support, case management
  • Counseling, psychotherapy
  • Community nursing
  • Medication evaluation and management

Individual and Family Services

Outpatient clinic based mental health and chemical dependence treatment services for children, adolescents, families, and adults.

Adolescent and Young Adult Treatment Team

This team provides age-appropriate services for adolescents and young adults ages 14–26 who require sustained support within the community. Services are customized to meet individual developmental and clinical needs.

Services include:

  • Community support, case management and group therapy
  • Counseling, psychotherapy
  • Medication evaluation and management
  • Community nursing

Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Team

The ACT Team delivers community-based, multidisciplinary support to individuals with severe and persistent mental illness, often complicated by co-occurring issues such as substance use, homelessness, or judicial system involvement. Services are person-centered, recovery-focused, and designed to enhance independence and stability.

Services include:

  • Integrated Dual Disorder Treatment (IDDT)
  • Supported employment
  • Evidence-based therapeutic interventions
LGBTQIA+ mental health services

Stonewall LGBTQIA+ Program

In partnership with the ADAMH Board of Franklin County and Stonewall Columbus, North Central Mental Health Services provides on-site outpatient psychotherapy and case management at Stonewall Columbus. Services are offered in a safe, inclusive, and affirming environment to LGBTQIA+ individuals and their families.

Recovery Support

A broad range of services for persons working to achieve the highest level of recovery possible from the effects of severe and persistent mental illness.

Recovery Assistance (RAP)

The Recovery Assistance Program supports individuals with long-term, severe mental health conditions in living as independently as possible within the community. Most participants already have established support systems in place.

Services include:

  • Community support, case management
  • Community nursing
  • Counseling, psychotherapy
  • Psychiatric evaluation and medication management

Intensive Recovery

A range of more intense team based services for those whose recovery from mental illness and/or addiction is more strongly challenged.

Transitional Teams

Team based services for young persons with serious difficulties that began in youth or adolescence and who will likely need significant support to achieve either transition to the adult system or a level of recovery sufficient enough to permit them to leave the treatment system.

Community Teams

Community Treatment Teams offer intensive, individualized, and community-based care for adults, typically ages 18–60, living with chronic and severe mental illness. Services follow a recovery-oriented model that promotes independence and quality of life.

Services include:

  • Community support, case management
  • Medication evaluation and management
  • Assistance with benefits and entitlements
  • Vocational and housing support
  • Individual and group therapy

Dual Disorders

Team based services for adults recovering from the effects of both severe/persistent mental illness and addiction.

Residential Services

Residential Community Housing Group Homes

North Central’s Residential Community Housing Program helps individuals develop independence in a structured group home setting. In addition to mental health support, residents receive assistance in pursuing educational, vocational, and social goals.

Epicenter Program

Epicenter Program

The Epicenter Team delivers specialized, early intervention services for individuals experiencing the early onset of psychotic symptoms. The program focuses on symptom impact reduction and reintegration into the community.

Services include:

  • Case management
  • Clinical evaluation and assessment
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
  • Family education and support
  • Metacognitive Remediation Therapy
  • Medication management
  • Supported employment and education
ADAMH Services Team

ADAMH Services Team (AST)

AST provides mental health services to individuals without insurance, Medicaid or Medicare coverage.

Services include:

  • Medication management
  • Diagnostic assessments
  • Community support, case management
  • Psychotherapy
  • Vocational counseling
  • Community nursing

Suicide Prevention

Suicide hotlines answered 24 hours per day by trained volunteers as well as a robust community education effort.

988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline

988 Is a 24/7/365 national crisis line offering immediate access to trained mental health professionals. It is a universal entry point for individuals experiencing crisis, mental health distress or suicidal thoughts.

Clozapine Team

This specialized team serves individuals diagnosed with treatment-resistant schizophrenia. Regular monitoring ensures medication compliance and effective outcomes.
